Now that the summer has ended and winter is upon us, it’s time to rethink our skincare for the upcoming months. Unfortunately, what works in warm weather does not always help during the cooler months. But no need to fret or worry. We have these simple skincare tips to offer from our dedicated staff at Aesthetx, including board-certified dermatologist Dr. Amelia K. Hausauer.
1. Don’t Forget the Sunscreen
People tend to think of sun protection as only a summer problem. But thinking in this way can lead to damaged skin in the winter. You should administer sunscreen daily in the spring, summer, winter, and fall—the sun’s UV rays are just as dangerous during the colder months as they are when the sun is at its full strength—sometimes more, if we neglect our sunscreen.
At Aesthetx, we recommend all our medical-grade skincare products. We emphasize the importance of our prescribed skin care treatments designed to minimize the appearance of skin aging, sun damage, acne, dullness, as well as hyperpigmentation.
2. Hydrate from Within and Without
Don’t skimp on your water consumption just because the temperatures went down. Continue to drink at least sixty-four ounces of water daily during winter. It will help with your overall health and is critical to your skin. It helps keep your underlying tissue supported and your skin healthy and taut.
You should also apply a topical moisturizer from our selection of medical-grade skin care products.
3. Reduce Exfoliation
When temperatures drop, your skin may become more sensitive. You should reduce your exfoliation and use gentler cleansers, too. Try switching to glycolic acid products to use once or twice weekly. This will be enough to remove old skin layers and reveal fresh, vibrant skin.
4. Get Plenty Rest
Sleep is a crucial part of skincare, keep in mind it’s the time your body repairs itself. Your blood flow increases during rest and sleep, rebuilding collagen to repair skin damage and reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots.
Another exciting benefit to getting proper sleep is cortisol, the stress hormone, decreases when we snooze.
5. Medical Dermatology
