Dr. Hausauer and our Aesthetx nurse specialists are experts when it comes to minimizing lines at the forehead or around the eyes, flattening neck bands. as well as controlling perspiration (sweating) at the armpits, palms and soles.  Not only is BOTOX® a corrective option but there is also growing evidence of its preventative effects to slow the development of wrinkles and improve skin quality.  Regardless of your goals for treatment, precision is key to achieve optimal results, and not all providers are created equal.  We at Aesthetx use a deft hand and fine-tuned eye to help you appear refreshed and revived.

While the medication begins working on muscles rapidly, results are usually evident as early as 3 days and optimal by 1-2 weeks.  They typically last 3-4 months, but in some can persist for half a year. BOTOX® is available at many offices and with many providers.  Selecting an experienced injector with in-depth knowledge of the relevant anatomy, clinical applications, and necessary doses is key.  We at Aesthetx are just that.

Aesthetx is renowned for extremely informative and in-depth consultations. To schedule your private consultation for BOTOX® or to learn more about the procedure, contact Aesthetx by visiting HERE or calling 408-412-5909.

Boost & Plump

Over time, our skin loses its support from environmental exposures, gravity, as well as changes in bone and soft tissue.  Repeat muscle contractions with laughing, smiling, crying and frowning develop into fine lines, wrinkles, furrows and folds.  And the skin loses it’s ability to produce necessary structural elements, such as collagen and hyaluronic acid, so face shape and structure change.  The scaffolding shifts beneath the exterior – making us look tired, angry, or weathered/haggard.

Dermal fillers are one way to boost and plump the skin. They help restore volume and erase lines to give a more refreshed and youthful appearance.

At Aesthetx, we offer an array of dermal filler, many of which contain substances naturally found in the body while other use synthetic compounds to mimic natural substances or stimulate your body’s own production of collagen Dr. Hausauer trained with some of the world’s most renowned experts in this fields and has written multiple textbook chapters and original papers on this subject.  She and our team use advanced and highly skilled techniques to ensure efficacy and safety.  The best results come from providers with a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and skin biology.  We strive for a level of care and thought not seen in other practices, so together, let’s soften, boost, and plump.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar naturally found in the deeper portions of the skin. It provides structure and hydration. Because of these qualities, we commonly turn to hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Belotero®, to improve volume loss and soften wrinkles. They are the most popular family of products worldwide and can also be used to enhance and shape features in expert hands.

  • Results in: immediate
  • Duration: 6-24 months
  • Reversible: yes
  • Downtime: minimal, variable

Juvéderm®

Juvéderm® is FDA-approved to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds – laugh lines and marionettes lines.  It can be used elsewhere off-label tailored to your needs and desired aesthetic.  Results are immediate and typically last up to 12 months.

Restylane®

Similar to Juvéderm®, Restylane® is formulated to smooth moderate to severe lines. It can also formulated to enhance lips. Again, results generally persist for up to 12 months.

Belotero®

Unlike the other hyaluronic acid fillers, Belotero® specifically treats fine lines and provides a smooth surface without adding unwanted volume. This is particularly useful around the mouth or the lower face where a chiseled or delicate jawline is considered ideal.  Belotero® is unique, because it nestles/integrates/settles into the skin’s crevices for subtle yet noticeable results. These features also mean that the risk of blue discoloration, a dreaded side effect with some other filler treatments, is far less likely. Given its delicate nature, Belotero® typically lasts approximately 6 months.

Voluma® and its sisters Vobella® and Vollure® are the newest members of the Juvéderm® portfolio of products.  They are FDA-approved to treat everything from mid-facial volume loss to lip augmentation to deep wrinkles and folds but with greater longevity.  In 2013, Voluma® became the first and only filler intended to restore subtly age-related changes in face shape for up to 2 years. We welcomed Vobella® in 2016 then Vollure XC in 2017. Excitingly, results from the U.S. clinical trials showed patients were very satisfied at 12 and 18 months after treatment, respectively, whereas other fillers used in these areas generally last no more than 6-12 months.

Non-Hyaluonic Acid Fillers

While hyaluronic acid fillers remain the most popular options, there are several alternative injectables derived from other ingredients found in the body or used to stimulate cell turnover and proliferation. Both are FDA-approved for correction of age-related changes as well as fat loss associated with HIV.

Radiesse®

  • Results in: immediate
  • Duration: 12 months or more
  • Reversible: no
  • Downtime: minimal, variable

A gel of calcium-microspheres, Radiesse® provides immediate volumizing and filling as well as stimulating the production of new collagen for long-lasting results.  It is the only filler intended to volumize the thin skin on back of the hands, a common but often underappreciated area for sun damage and aging.

Sculptra®

  • Results in: 6 weeks or more
  • Duration: up to 24 months
  • Reversible: no
  • Downtime: minimal, variable

Sculptra® helps correct facial fat loss, including hollow eyes, sunken cheeks, and many other indentations.  Formulated with alpha hydroxyl acids, which are safe, biodegradable, and biocompatible, this product achieves soft lifting and filling over time by triggering the synthesis of your own collagen in the deep layers of the skin.  Initially, the skin appears hydrated and pert.  These effects declines as the body metabolizes the Sculptra® acids but mechanisms are already in place to build gradually shape and volume with improvement over multiple treatments evident at 6 weeks to 3 months.

Smooth & Blur

Using lasers and other devices, we can smooth the skin surface and erase or fade blemishes such as blood vessels and sun spots. Dr. Hausauer and her team use a variety of different tool and techniques to resurface the skin. Typically, these apply either targeted light and heat or mechanical injury to eliminate unwanted blemishes, lines, dimples, and scars. Most treatments create a sunburn-like reaction with days, rarely a week or so, of downtime. Comprehensive consultation and collaboration allow us to select the best procedure for you to achieve a more uniform skin tone, a more even canvas.

Sciton Resurfacing Lasers: HALO®, PROFRACTIONAL® AND TRL®

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Through a combination of devices, Drs. Hausauer and Zeidler can erase the years safely, quickly, and painlessly.  We offer several different procedures and combine several different technologies to optimize results while balancing side effects and downtime.  This gives our team the flexibility to create the perfect treatment plan for your skin, regardless of wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, or other concerns.

  • Results in: up to 6 months
  • Duration: indefinite, variable depending on customized plan
  • Reversible: no
  • Downtime: 1-2 weeks
  • Number of sessions: usually 1-6 depending on strength

The Science of HALO®, PROFRACTIONAL® AND TRL®

There are several different types of technology intended to minimize the appearance of textural irregularities and stimulate the production of collagen and elastic fibers, the elements that given your skin its volume, snap, and resilience.  Some of these create tiny injuries on the surface by vaporizing tissue (called ablative lasers), while others only heat the deeper portions without damaging the surface (called non-ablative lasers).  Each treatment modality carries pros and cons.   The HALO® and Profractional® laser offer another advantage to speed healing and limit side effects; both target only small columns of skin with normal intact areas surrounding.  You heal rapidly from those untouched areas.  Additionally, the HALO® is the only laser to combine both ablative and non-ablative energy in order to create a highly customized treatment.  You get the best of all worlds.  The TRL® targets all tissue, so it can efface any wrinkle or depression more precisely and aggressively. Dr. Hausauer completed sub-specialty, fellowship training in cosmetic dermatology.  Her skills go beyond those of most general doctors and dermatologists who have little, to no, training requirements in laser medicine. Given the power of these devices, don’t trust your face to just any provider.

Scar Revision: acne, surgical, traumatic, and other

The skin is dynamic and pliable with immense healing properties, yet these repairs often leave a footprint, a scar that may be disfiguring or restrictive.  Thicken, abnormally arranged collagen bundles lead to texture irregularities and potentially distortion of surrounding tissue; loss of pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) lead to white regions; and proliferation of slender blood vessels leads to redness. As a comprehensive cosmetic surgery and dermatology center, we have seen many scars: from acne, from breast reconstruction and radiation, from cleft palate repairs, from burns and trauma, etc.  Our three physicians jointly have decades of experience and work together tirelessly to address even the most challenging cases.  They marry different medical backgrounds to devise a layered, multi-dimensional approach for you and your body at any stage of healing: lasers, peels, microneedling with platelet rich plasma (PRP, plasmaX), injectable fillers, BOTOX®, subcision (gently cutting the tethered skin that binds the scar beneath), and even surgical revision, if necessary.

V-beam Perfecta®

Unwanted flushing, spider-like veins and thick patches of blood vessel can mar an otherwise clear complexion.  Through multiple treatments with the V-beam Perfecta® laser, we target all forms of redness: general blotchiness, rosacea, birthmarks, even pesky bruises after surgery.

  • Results in: days
  • Duration: depends on condition
  • Reversible: no
  • Downtime: 1-2 days
  • Number of sessions: usually 2-3 sessions

The Science Of V-BEAM PERFECTA®

This laser emits a specialized light preferentially absorbed by hemoglobin, a protein in every red blood cell carrying oxygen.  By selectively absorbing this energy, hemoglobin heats and ultimately, destroys tiny blood vessels without damaging surrounding tissue. V-beam Perfecta® is the gold standard in treating vascular conditions because of its adaptability and precise delivery: excellent results with low risk of side effects.  While you may notice redness and swelling initially, as this subsides, get use to a less blotchy version of you.

BroadBand Light® (BBL)

A flawless canvas through the power of light

Through photo-rejuvenation, intense pulse light (IPL) using the Sciton BroadBand Light® (BBL) targets brown spots and blood vessels that come with sun exposure and aging.

  • Results in: 1 week
  • Duration: indefinitely, although ongoing changes occur so maintenance common
  • Reversible: no
  • Downtime: up to 7 days
  • Number of sessions: variable depending on indications, often 3-6

Thanks to a flexible hand-piece, we can treat any area of the body, even hard to reach or small ones. The cool glass window protects the skin’s surface so only troublesome areas receive light energy and means most patients experience minimal discomfort. Treatment is versatile with customized regimens depending on what you want to erase.

Regenerate and Regrow

Capitalizing on the body’s remarkable ability to renew and heal, this complement of treatments harnesses molecules involved in cell-to-cell communication, growth factors, to revitalize aged or damaged tissue. High concentrations of growth factors released in response to microscopic wounding (microneedling) or extracted from the blood (platelet rich plasma [PRP]) can smooth dimples, speed post-procedural recovery, regrow hair, etc. At Aesthetx, these treatments have become so celebrated and innovative that they warrant their own name, plasmaX. Dr. Zeidler has been using regenerative technologies to facilitate healing after surgery long before they became en vogue, and Dr. Hausauer is a renown expert in her own right, training providers across the country, publishing and editing texts on the subject, and serving as lead investigator in clinical trials, which have received much publicity.  Recently, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), the largest procedural dermatology group in the US, nominated her to draft the seminal manuscript evaluating these procedures in cutaneous medicine.

Consider what is right for you:

  • plasmaX for fine lines and tone
  • plasmaX for hair
  • plasmaX for surgery and healing
  • plasmaX for scars
  • plasmaX for stretch marks
  • plasmaX for under eye circles

Sculpt and Contour

We live in the epicenter of technology, in a time of invention and discovery, so why accept stubborn pockets of fat, excessive sweating, or unwanted hair. Many of our patients share our passion for wellness but despite consistent efforts, this is not always enough. The physicians and team at Aesthetx offer no-downtime, non-invasive options for all these concerns.

Kybella®

Concerned about that double chin (termed submental fullness or fat)?  Kybella® may be the right choice for you to chisel that jawline and define that chin.

  • Results in: 2-3 months
  • Duration: indefinite
  • Reversible: no
  • Downtime: 1-2 weeks (primarily because of swelling)
  • Number of sessions: usually 2-4

Both men and women may suffer from unwanted submental fullness, often due to a combination of genetics, weight gain, and aging.  This fat is notoriously resistant to diet and exercise, and its appearance can be embarrassing or distressing. In fact, according to a 2015 survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, submental fullness bothers nearly as many aesthetically-oriented patients as do lines and wrinkles around the eyes. Kybella® is the first and only FDA-approved injectable medication intended to contour this angle.  It contains a substance naturally found in the body, called deoxycholic acid, to destroy fat cells permanently.  Dr. Hausauer trained with several of the world key opinion leaders on Kybella® who brought it to market in the U.S. and Canada, and she brings this experience to each and every consultation.

Reduce and Clear

Excess sweating, hair or veins can be unsightly and bothersome. Never again question the focus of your colleagues or friends.

  • Unwanted sweating: Miradry/Mirasmooth®, BOTOX®®
  • Unwanted facial or body hair: ClearScan®
  • Unwanted spider or varicose veins: V-beam Perfecta®, Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy

Active lives mean lots of time on our feet standing or sitting with gravity weighing us down. Over time, this force causes the veins in our legs to lose their patency and become distended and floppy. They lose the ability to pump blood efficiently, so it pools and results in selling and/or visible superficial vessels, known as spider, reticular or varicose veins. Similar dilated veins can occur elsewhere on the body as well. Lasers such as the V-beam Perfect®, sclerotherapy, or other techniques can minimize the appearance of these unnecessary yet unattractive vessels.

  • Results in: 1-3 months
  • Duration: variable depending on severity and lifestyle habits
  • Reversible: no
  • Downtime: days to weeks
  • Number of sessions: usually 1-4 depending on severity

The Science of Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy involves the injection of an irritating solution into the vessels so that they clamp down and close off. Traditionally, concentrated saline (salt water) was used to achieve this goal, but now, we have more sophisticated soaps and foams that achieve the same or better results with fewer side effects, including: dark spots and ulceration. Over monthly sessions, the solution causes veins to scar, and the body re-absorbs them. In clinical trials, 95% of patients treated with Asclera®, a common sclerotherapy solution employed at Aesthetx by Dr. Hausauer, showed good or complete success at 3 and 6 months after between 1-3 treatment sessions. Compression stockings and lifestyle changes help maintain results. For more complicated cases, referral to a vascular surgeon may provide even better clearance as part of a totally body approach.
